Mobile Robots for Hospital EVS and Linen

Your support team should be more than fulltime cart haulers.

Faster room turnover means faster admissions, more surgeries, fewer boarded patients in the ED, and better throughput house-wide.

Aethon’s T3 autonomous mobile robots move trash and linen carts across your hospital — day and night, holidays and weekends — so your staff can chase cleanliness scores and turnaround times, not carts.

Aethon Hospital robots. Providing healthcare mobile robot, linen delivery robot and robots at hospitals.

Today everything that needs to move, moves on somebody's back.

And right now, that means your EVS and Linen staff pushing carts through corridors instead of meeting your cleaning and turnover goals.

Hours a day spent hauling trash and linen carts instead of turning rooms and disinfecting

Chronic short-staffing that leaves overtime and agency labor as your only lever

Nights, weekends and holidays still need full linen and trash coverage

Discharge cleaning backs up whenever your team is stuck in transit instead of in the room

Cleanliness scores and turnaround-time metrics take the hit when logistics eats the shift

This is a transportation problem that's been handed to your EVS and Support staff.

Eliminate it with autonomous mobile robots.

BED TURNOVER & DISCHARGE CLEANING

Your room turnover time shouldn't depend on who's free to haul trash or linen.

Cleaning is already hard enough. The logistics just makes it harder.

Faster room turnover means faster admissions, more surgeries, fewer boarded patients in the ED, and better throughput house-wide.

Your EVS and support team already knows how to clean and change over a room effectively.

What slows them down is everything around it:  hauling a full trash cart to the basement, waiting on an elevator, running clean linen back, and handling regulated medical waste before the room is ready.

T3 moves the carts while your team turns over the room.

✓  Free up staff from cart transport

✓  Linen and trash runs scheduled around discharge volume, not staff availability

✓  Runs evenings, weekends and holidays.  Supports discharges at all times.

WE UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU’RE UP AGAINST

We’ve implemented mobile robots for environmental services in hospitals for over 20 years.

We’ve implemented mobile robots for environmental services in hospitals for over 20 years.

Not a warehouse. Not a distribution center. A hospital with cleanliness standards and infection-control requirements.

Aethon’s autonomous mobile robots already move carts through some of the busiest health systems in the country. The T3 platform was engineered specifically to carry the heavy, high-volume, recurring loads that EVS and support-services teams move every single day: soiled linen, clean linen, regulated and general trash, and the carts that carry them.

The same robot that picks up trash in the morning can distribute linen in the evening — sharing the fleet across departments instead of asking you to staff and schedule around it.

We know the job you have to do and we can help you get it done.

THE PLAN

Four steps to make a change for the better

No need for a pilot program that eats a year. We've done this before and will just get to work when you're ready.

1. Book a Call

We will start with you.

Tell us about your staffing, growth or building plans, cart volumes, shift patterns and the logistics pain points impacting EVS and linen services today.

We will put together a presentation, proposal and quote to help you plan for mobile robots each step along the way.

2. Design Workflow

We develop a detailed plan and workflow design that includes delivery points, routes, elevator use, cart handling, clean vs soiled flow, biohazard handling, off-site processing, and support of 24hr operations.

All of this is supported by simulation to ensure you have the right configuration and robot resources to meet your logistics requirements.

3. Implement

We deploy the mobile robots and the people to make it all happen.

Nobody in your organization needs to be a robot expert.

Our project managers and installers coordinate with EVS, nursing and IT so the rollout doesn’t land on your desk alone.

4. Move Carts

The T3 robot works day and night, weekends and holidays.  Our Command Center and Robot Operations Center handles the robot so your staff doesn’t need to be experts.

How do mobile robots fit into the entire workflow?

This video is a great example showing the full lifecycle of linen handling at Parkview Health.

TRASH & LINEN LOGISTICS AUTOMATED

Moves carts full or empty, soiled or clean.

T3 locates the cart, drives itself underneath, lifts it, and secures it. No staff member has to load or push anything. When it arrives, it lowers the cart, releases it and drives away on its own. The robot handles full carts, empty carts, soiled or clean linen or regulated waste and the automatic exchange works the same way every time.

High Capacity. The T3 hauls 750lbs and carts up to 46″ long.  The T3XL hauls carts up to 1000lbs and 54″ long.

Your Carts or Ours. We can retrofit your existing carts onto a robot compatible base or replace your aged carts with new robot-ready models that are modern, ergonomic and robot compatible.

Cross-Department sharing. The same robot fleet can run linen distribution in the evening and trash pickup during the day.

24/7 COVERAGE

It works the night and weekend shifts you can't staff.

T3 runs 8 hours on a charge and returns to its dock on its own between runs, keeping it continuously available. The dock plugs into a standard wall outlet so there’s no infrastructure project required to get started.

✓  Up to 8 hours of run-time.

✓  Autonomous return-to-dock between runs keeps it continuously available.

✓  Coverage that holds on nights, weekends and holidays

AUTONOMOUS NAVIGATION

Nobody has to hold the elevator or clear a path.

An array of sensors and LiDAR combined with its omnidirectional drive lets T3 move through crowded corridors, nursing units and service areas without an escort.

It calls its own elevator, waits for an empty cab, and opens its own doors.

✓  Boundary-less mapping across floors and levels.

✓  Full elevator integration across all brands.

✓  Auto opening door system integration

✓  Omnidirectional locomotion for tight service corridors and doorways

✓  Safe around patients, staff and visitors

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

What changes in the first ninety days?

TODAY TOMORROW
EVS staff pushing carts through corridors and elevators EVS staff cleaning rooms and turning beds
Overtime and agency labor covering nights and weekends Coverage that doesn’t call out
Discharge cleaning delayed by transport time Faster room turnover, faster throughput
Trash and linen logistics riding on whoever is free Scheduled, dedicated runs that don’t depend on staffing that day

You've probably made the case for more EVS staff.

This is the case that scales and gets approved.

The staff at these health systems don't move carts.

Aethon’s autonomous mobile robot fleets are already deployed across major health systems nationwide.

VA Hospitals implement pharmacy delivery robots

Nine EVS mobile robots traveling over 10,000 miles per year and freeing up 4,000 hours of staff time.

What do they do with that staff time?  They earn the 2019 Environmental Services Department of the Year ->HERE

Mobile robots at Mercy Healthcare

42 robots across three Mercy hospitals relieve the staff from the tiresome and monotonous work of moving carts.

At its largest facility in St. Louis, they completed almost 300,000 deliveries in a year.

Check out this video -> HERE where they explain how our mobile robots work for them.
